DorkCast E3 2008 Special: Nintendo Conference

By xibxang | July 15, 2008

Well the conference that had to the potential to be most exciting was Nintendo. Simply because they had left no hint or word to what they would show, and to us it seemed essential to show some strong games to secure the Wii’s future as a strong gaming machine

We found out as the conference went on that we might have been expecting too much. The whole experience was pretty unbelievable. Listen and find out why for yourself. Please note that we haven’t given this much edit time simply because we felt it just wasn’t worth it.

You might want to body-swerve it altogether.!

Here is a super special treat for you guys that we can safely say you will not hear anywhere else on any other podcast.

We sat through the Microsoft Conference Live and recorded all our reactions, chat, lols and screams through the entire thing. We did obviously shut up and listen and watch a lot of it so this is not the enitre conference and we do reccomend you watch it yourself . This is a chronoLOLgical concise version of the Microsoft conference from the original and best Dorks. True story.

Nevertheless, we had oodles of fun. Listen to our thoughts about the whole thing after it having had a day to sink in tomorrow before we start watching the Nintendo and Sony show. Enjoy E3 Dorkcask E3 2008 Special 001 and tune in tomorrow for more!

By xibxang | July 13, 2008

icon for podpress  DorkCast019: We're back! [64:11m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

We’ve returned from our holiday to Cleethorpes and we’re refreshed and ready to talk about games again. Rubicon Head joins us on the show for a while and we all have a jolly good natter about E3 and what we’re expecting from The Big Three. Cue some giddy chat about God of War 3, Little Big Planet and more.

Now that update 2.41 is out for the PS3, Uzi and I talk about Super Stardust HD as though we’re pros and then reveal to each other that we’re rubbish. There’s it’s a grand ol’ stroll down memory lane to talk about Dead Rising too.

All this and more in DorkCast019

No podcast this week

By xibxang | July 7, 2008

Apologies to all.

I’ve been having connection problems for the last couple of days thanks to a rubbish ADSL modem. However, we’re lining up a bit of a bumper show this coming weekend. There’s talk of it running into 2 hours and we’re working hard at filling it with even more Dorky goodness.

The connection issues are all sorted out now so now I’m planning and scheming. Uzi’s also got a wee surprise to introduce to the mix..

Don’t be mad at us. We’ll make it up to you guys.

Samurai Memories

By Kinketsu | July 6, 2008

Unfortunately I’ve got a gaming sickness that isn’t easily cured. I’m addicted to samurai games. No, not ninja games, although I like those too. Samurai games. No doubt part of it is because of my double life. Under another name I write quite a lot of stuff about samurai movies, watch a lot of discs and read a lot of books about the subject. It’s not because I’m any kind of swordplay expert. Quite the opposite. I did kendo lessons until I got bored out of my mind, which didn’t take long at all. I don’t have the patience for it. I just want to see cool stuff happen

This is why I play soldier games. I’m not familiar with how to angle a grenade launcher through a window or how to slide across a drain pipe upside down and kill someone, but I love doing it in games. Naturally I want to feel like I can do all the cool stuff I’ve seen in movies. The same is true about samurai games.

Independence Day in the U.S.A.

By DarthVicious82 | July 4, 2008

The American Flag with Fireworks

Today is Independence Day in the United States of America. My family plans on celebrating like most by drinking beer, lighting explosives and eating far too much grilled food. Eat, drink, and blow stuff up. It’s an American tradition. This year is a bit different though as my wife and daughter are celebrating hundreds of miles away visiting her relatives in Massachusetts while I am with my parents and brothers in Indiana. While I miss my wife and my “baby bear,” sometimes it’s nice to just be one of the boys.

DorkCast018: All about the Sarcasm

By xibxang | June 29, 2008

Dorkcast 18 kicks off with a very special guest; the lovable Lono from the Sarcasticgamer.com podcast. Uzi and Xib argued like an old married couple and Lono sat like the embarrassed guest in their house wondering how to quietly slip out. Actually, Uzi was having to save Xib from further acting the fool as usual

We eventually got onto discussion of Diablo III, Battlefield Bad: Company, Super Smash Bros Brawl, The Bourne Conspiracy, Civilization Revolution and how to improve your Rock Band experience. We really enjoyed making this one. Hope you do too.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

By qazimod | June 25, 2008

FFVII CC screenie

You’d think it would be ridiculous to develop a game for a handheld that’s based on a blockbuster RPG spanning hundreds of hours and several discs, and when it was announced that Square Enix were planning a PSP game chronicling a sidestory in the FFVII universe, no-one knew quite what to expect. However, on Friday 20th June gamers in the UK were able to get their hands on Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and - with my preorder slip in hand and my complimentary art card in the bag - I prepared to lose myself in that universe all over again…

DorkCast017: Original pirate material

By xibxang | June 22, 2008

Oh, we’ve got a bee in our bonnets about Limbo of the Lost, the “game” that’s borrowed a whole bunch of assets from countless other titles. To rebel against this lack of originality, we’ve both written new jingles and showcased them on this week’s show. All our own work… honest!

The games chat this week consists of Uzi’s impressions of Alone in the Dark, GRID, xib’s love of Metal Gear Solid 4 and the joy that is online co-op Gears of War. Because of the joy of online gears co op uzi and xib discuss what makes a good co op game.

To garnish the mix, we give our thoughts on the recently released trailer for Call of Duty: World at War.

Big thanks to Skype for messing up our recording levels but thanks to xib’s l33+ GarageBand skills, all was recovered.
